CGA Special Report on High School Options

February 27, 2008

If you are a middle school or high school parent of a gifted child, you’ll appreciate the insights offered in this special report for members of Coppell Gifted Association.  High school parent Barbara Geller outlines the pros and cons – for a gifted child – of New Tech High, International Baccalaureate, GT classes, Advanced Placement, Pre-AP and Dual Credit.

Barbara researched these options through interviews and information provided by CISD and UNT.  Her advice, however, is her own no-holds-barred, politically incorrect, inside scoop.

If you are an elementary school parent, be grateful that you don’t have to make all these decisions yet …but you’ll still want to read on so you can be aware of the options available for your gifted child and be ready to make informed middle school curriculum decisions.

  • The last two pages of the report contain a chart comparing all the options.

I hope you find this information useful in making curriculum decisions
