State of the Coppell Gifted Assocation

Two active years later . . . and still counting!
CGA Goals and Accomplishments:
- Promote awareness of GT students and their needs through well-known speakers, our newsletters, our website, and iContact email communication (started this year)
- Support for Coppell ISD GT students through educator scholarships, our Communications Committee which includes campus representatives from every school, Knowsys flashcardsales and distribution, and participation on various CISD committees (GT Screening Policy, GT Teacher Training Task Force, Pinnacle 2010, Key Communicator Breakfasts, and Parent Advisory Committee)
- Identify and satisfy unmet needs of GT students in Coppell ISD by creation and administration of MOSAIC Summer Program, implementation of Supporting Educational Needs of Gifted (SENG) Parent Discussion Group, creation of local summer GT Symposium for CISD educators, identification of CGA program enhancements
What’s next for CGA?
- Survey to determine GT student and parent programming needs, desires, and ideas
- Involve GT students in CGA sponsored events
- Increase individual campus visibilityof GT students and parents
- Recognize outstanding GT educators and advocates, beginning with the Kettler Award which was presented to Todd Kettler, Director of Advanced Academics, the first recipient and award’s namesake
- Promote Texas Association of Gifted and Talented (TAGT) Conference in Dallas on Nov. 12 – 14, 2008
CGA needs you, the members, for:
- Campus involvement
- Volunteer opportunities
- Program Committee involvement
- Programming participation
- Grant writing and research
- AP exam proctoring at Coppell High School this May
