Holly Snyder’s TAGT Reflection
I recently attended the TAGT conference in Fort Worth, Texas and came away with some really great strategies and fun ideas to use with my students right away.
My favorite session would be the one I attended called Writing for Science presented by Martha Hammett. Teaching 4th grade I know how important it is to get students writing. This is often something my gifted students struggle with too. While I am not teaching writing and reading this year I loved this session on incorporating writing with Science. I found out great strategies on how to get my student brainstorming more in-depth and help them clarify what they already know and be able to articulate it to others. I can’t wait to start our next science unit in class and to try these strategies out.
I plan to share these strategies with my campus but have already shared them with my teammates and they are all very excited.
I attended several sessions and found a lot of things that I will bring back to my school but by far this session on empowering your writers through science was my favorites. Thank you CGA for this opportunity, I am so honored.
