TAGT needs help reviewing scholarship applications

March 10, 2011

The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) is seeking volunteers to
read and evaluate TAGT student scholarship applications on Tuesday, March 22, at
Southern Methodist University’s SMU-in-Plano campus.

TAGT will award $25,000 to gifted students from across the state, which helps them
pursue their passion for learning during the summer months and beyond.
The scholarship review will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a short training session, and
continue until we are finished, generally by mid-afternoon. It is best if you can
volunteer for the entire day, but if you are available during the morning hours, we would
be glad for your participation, too. TAGT will provide lunch and refreshments.

Evaluations are read and scored independently by teams of three readers; typically about
20-25 readers are needed to complete the task in one day.
