Deadlines for GT Testing in September

Interested in having your child tested for participation in the GT program at CISD?  Assessments  are based on results from the COGAT.  This is not a test that your child can prep for — but it is important to understand the testing and application process.

Kindergarten: all kindergarten students are tested at the end of November.  There is no need to fill out an application.

1st and 2nd Grade: Deadline is Sept 30.  Testing is early October.

3rd Grade: all 3rd grade students are tested the middle of September.  There is no need to fill out an application.

4th Grade: Deadline is Sept 9.  Testing is late September.

5th Grade: Deadline is Sept 9.  Testing is late September.  Please be aware that students may only take the test one time a year.  So, if your child is in 5th grade, you may wish to wait until the spring testing dates instead of having him/her assessed in the fall.  The benefit of secondary testing is that the results are evaluated for subject specific results, instead of overall performance in elementary testing.

Fall Secondary (6-12 grade): Deadline is September 16.

Spring Secondary (5-11 grade): Deadline is February 10.
