IB Informational Meetings

September 10, 2011

Jeb Puryear, coordinator of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at Coppell High School, is holding informational meetings about the IB program.

Wednesday September 21st, October 5th, and October 19th.
CHS Lecture Hall from 6:00-7:30PM
Recommended for parents and students in 7th-10th grade.

The IB diploma program is an academic path offered for juniors and seniors in its third year at CHS. In the coming weeks I will be holding my first series of meetings to acquaint potential participants with the program. Both parents and students are encouraged to attend. Topics covered will include background philosophy and history of the program at CHS, course offerings and overall course planning, potential college level credit and college recognition, and other “nuts and bolts” requirements such as the “creativity, action, and service” component and fees associated with the program that cover student registration and assessment.

There will also be a series of sessions right before the winter break that will bring back graduated IB students from the class of 2011 to reflect on their experiences in the program and talk about how it has prepared them for their university studies.
