Gifted Matters – November 2014
Welcome to the November 2014 edition of Gifted Matters. The cool weather has finally come to the DFW area! Hope everyone is staying warm during this cold snap. Find a warm spot and spend a few minutes with our newsletter to catch up on what is new with CGA!
Creative Writing Competition: The deadline is quickly approaching with all entries due December 4th. Our judges are looking forward to seeing all the great entries! For more information about our Annual Creative Writing Competition, please read here.
Student Events: Our first Creative Writing Workshop was a great success! To read more about this event, click here. We are interested in hearing from our members about student events they would like to see, so if you have an idea, please e-mail Shannon at studentevents@coppellgifted.org.
Scholarships: CGA is very proud to have granted a record number of scholarships this fall! We are sending 54 CISD educators/administrators to the upcoming TAGT conference! For more details, click here.
TAGT Parent Conference: Interested in attending the TAGT parent conference in December? Click here!
Guest Writer: In previous newsletters, we’ve been honored to have Dr. Audrey Kteily, who is a parent and psychologist here in Coppell write some articles. In this month’s edition, Dr. Kteily will continue to share her personal experience and professional views on parenting a gifted child. This month she shares her article Parenting a Gifted Child.
Meet a GTi Specialist: Each month we’ll be highlighting one of our elementary GTi specialists. This month meet Kati Castellanos and Ayesha Khan!
Holiday Stress: If this is something you deal with, check out this article!
Book Talk: Did you know CGA maintains a lending library of books and DVDs on parenting and education, especially in the area of giftedness? To see the items that are available, please visit our members-only Library page (password is on the edge of your e-mailed copy).
We Need You: CGA still has some open positions we need volunteers for. Please consider giving a bit of time to CGA. Learn more here.
We hope that you will enjoy the information included in this newsletter and find it useful. We’d love to have your feedback on how we are doing, and what you’d like to read about in the future. Email us, comment on the blog or Facebook, or contact your campus rep; we’d love to hear from you.
