Summer science programs for younger kids
Are your kids too young for MOSAIC but want to get their hands dirty with a science programs? Check out this hidden gem.
Explorations Preparatory School in Flower Mound is offering hands-on classes in a country setting for kids entering K-5th grade. They use GT teaching strategies, including differentiation, to meet the needs of all the students. Classes are taught by certified teachers and are small to allow for individualized attention:
- Solar Science: What does the sun do for us? Float a giant solar bag, create sun-print t-shirts and build solar-powered robots.
- Diggin’ Dirt: Learns the secrets of dirt, grow your own test-tube garden, and learn how to grow plants using plastic.
- Oozing and Glowing Worlds: Oozing slime, instant worms and extreme bubbles! What more could a kid ask for?
- Go Green!: The future of our environment is in your hands! Learn how to make Styrofoam vanish, create your own can crusher, and learn how you can help the environment.
- Getting Physical: Make thunder and lightning, mash a marshmallow, and make a clock using fruit as you explore the world of physics.
- World of Ponds: What lives in a pond? Study amphibians and microscopic creatures that inhabit the pond ecosystem and create your own pond ecosystem to take home.
Classes are Monday-Thursday, 2 hours each day. Morning and afternoon sessions. Cost: $100.
