May 5: College Planning for Gifted Kids
CGA Speaker Series – May 5th, 7 p.m., Coppell High School Lecture Hall:
Finding the Right Fit: College Planning for Gifted Kids
You might think that college planning for gifted kids is easier in that they are more likely to get accepted, provided that they live up to their academic potential. In reality, being gifted can actually make the college decision harder. Plus, the social and emotional needs of gifted students can require some additional thought.
We’ll include tips for both middle school and high school students about preparing for college and finding the right fit.
Our speaker, Barbara Geller, is the mother of two gifted teenagers and has spent the last few years reading about and living through the college search process. To share what she has learned, she has started a blog. CGA members may also recognize Barbara’s name because she has been Membership chairperson, CHS campus rep, and a frequent contributor to the CGA newsletter, Gifted Matters.
At the May meeting, we will also elect new CGA officers & vote on changes to the bylaws. Plus, we’ll launch our new website & blog, which we think you will love because you can search content from old newsletters.
$5 for non-members, FREE for CGA Members
Looking forward to it!
