Summer Mosaic Spotlight: Robotic Puppetry
While we recognize the importance of a STEM education, THIS summer we are putting A (Arts) into the mix, for STEAM. This is critical for creating innovators – STEM to STEAM: Art in K-12 is Key to Building a Strong Economy
The class we are offering is one-of-a-kind: Robotic Puppetry! CISD Stem Coordinator, Mike Yak and his wife Amy Yakubovsky (EAST theatre teacher) are combining their passions to teach this class. This is the seventh year these two popular educators have taught MOSAIC (to capacity), and this course will be amazing! CURRENT 6th, 7th AND 8th graders are eligible to participate. Robotic Puppetry – “STEAM” (Mike and Amy Yakubovsky, CHS and CMSE)
June 9–13 & July 28-August 1, 2014 9:00 a.m. – noon (double blocked- 3 hour course).
Students will use LEGO NXT Robots to explore the world of engineering by building remote control “puppets.” Create with technology and then turn to art by learning the fundamentals of puppet script writing and puppet genres. Create your own puppet and then bring it to life with the power of robotics!
